Song of the day (Sunday)

Billy Joel – Vienna

That song is stuck in my head for weeks now

Slow down you crazy child nanana nanana hey hey (…) when will you realise, Vienna waits for you

Just a part of the song is stuck, as you can see. When I heard “Vienna” in a Netflix show, I thought I heard Elton John. Maybe because I saw “Rocketman” just a few days earlier. Well, it turned out, the song was not from the Rocketman, but from the Pianoman. Man man man…

For the life of me, I can’t remember the show. My guess would be “The Politician,” but I can’t be sure.

Enjoy your Sunday

Thank you for seeing me.

PS: Somehow, it is important for me to be seen these last days. I need connection. I don’t want to fade from your memory. I don’t want to be forgotten. There you have it – one of my biggest fears: being forgettable and not good enough.

PPS: oops… There was the wrong song in the first upload of this post, no one noticed, right?!

Song of the day

Fink – Once you get a taste

From the brilliant album Bloom Innocent released last week.

I now own a white vinyl record with a black spec that is not supposed to be there and that is too large for my turntables. It wasn’t cut right… But, with a couple of tricks I was able to play it and it sounds awesome. I like it a lot.

I hope you enjoy it too.

A song…

Hello, it’s me
I’ve thought about us for a long, long time
Maybe I think too much but something’s wrong
There’s something here that doesn’t last too long
Maybe I shouldn’t think of you as mine

Seeing you, or seeing anything as much as I do you
I take for granted that you’re always there
I take for granted that you just don’t care
Sometimes I can’t help seeing all the way through

It’s important to me
That you know you are free
‘Cause I never want to make you change for me

Think of me
You know that I’d be with you if I could
I’ll come around to see you once in a while
Or if I ever need a reason to smile
And spend the night if you think I should

It’s important to me
That you know you are free
‘Cause I never want to make you change for me

Think of me
You know that I’d be with you if I could
I’ll come around to see you once in a while
Or if I ever need a reason to smile
And spend the night if you think I should

A song and a memory and lyrics… Todd Rundgren. Hello, it’s me. (1972)

music – our ceasing voice

Today, I am sharing something special with you… The Austrian band Our Ceasing Voice. I chose three songs and they are all quite different.

Polaroids and Chinese Whispers (from the album “When the Headline Hit Home“, 2011)

with Matthew Ryan – until our chest explodes (from the album “That Last November“, 2013)

The Arsonist (from the album “Free Like Tonight“, 2017)

I really like that you can hear the evolution and change over the years, and yet, there is something that is still undeniably Our Ceasing Voice. I hope you enjoy it. If the first song is not for you, try the second or third.

Lots of love,

Cathy

Music…

Let’s start this music post with something progressive.

The band is called Gazpacho, and the song is called “Chequered Light Buildings.”

The song is from an album called “Night” (2007, Kscope)

🎧🎵🎶

The second song I recommend is called “A Long Time Listening” from another Nordic band, (Gazpacho are from Norway) Agent Fresco. (Agent Fresco are from Iceland)

The song is from an album with the same name – “A Long Time Listening” (2010, Record Records)
